Some say flowers don't grow on the beach.. Some say the waves crash too wild, the sun burns too hot. Some say the sands are too dry and let nothing take root. Some have never visited my home. Miami was always a dream of audacity, if nothing else. Take a stroll down our beaches and I dare you to tell me, with an unburnt face and a squint (even though you're wearing shades), that our flowers don't grow, that our flowers, from all corners of the jealous globe don't surpass form, outclass beauty, that they, themselves, are not the source of that heat that burns through your sandals and rises through every part of your sunscreened and baby-oiled body. I dare you.. I dare you. No? Not bold enough? Stay here awhile amongst the beautiful flowers and soon enough you'll learn how we do things where life is sweet and the women are sweeter.
