Vegetable, Love, Grow

I've heard the legend of the great loves of fire, raging with passion, without regard for future concerns of fuel run low, of heat overwhelming into a great inferno—Romeo and Juliet's now cold, loveless statues come to mind.. But as I get older, as I lear -n over and over the reasons for virtue, for temperance, for patience, for what is slow, I've begun to see things differently—it is now the vegetable love, deliberately grown that I envy when I spy the clasped hands of the old, life is not long, but longer for those who can overcome the incessant need for cheap sugar thrills.
