The Way to my Joy

Transcription
A German man with an oversized mustache said the way to joy is through the
overcoming of resistance (those are not the exact words because he spoke German).. A Miami man, on this very page, says it is also the way to attain, for oneself, precious uncut jewels from deep within our depths: resilience, or grit. Our very selves, in the furnace of this life, in unimaginable heat and time, by simply persisting in our breath, become. Become all the good things that all take time. There is a break between what is and what was, between wheat and chaff, skin thickens like cream as it rises, the fruit of the spirit sweetens within the rind and hangs high from the tree like an aspiration to all those that seek the inspiration to survive the thorns of life that encircle like foam-mouthed hyenas, testing our boundaries in fits and starts, one at a time feinting (foul trickery), hoping to cackle and laugh us into a fainting spell, into the very grave's loamy mouth—does this boil your blood? It should. Raiseyour hands you gritjoy soldier of life, and return your punch!
