How does one offer their proper gratitude
On one's knees as in prayer? Or in flight,
losing all sense of direction, a gift, a sacrifice
in exhange for her knowing your name,
hearing her say it with gentleness and care,
like old friends grown older than old at the
end of time, sparkling like kid's eyes,
shining like the whip of black satin shining
or sea spray washing our faces, concealing tears
of nothing but joy, not a care in the world
